Political Reservation Debate Competition and Hostel Visit
The Department of Basic and Applied Sciences (BAS) was established in the year 2013 as the first State Government Institute in basic sciences exclusively for women in North India with the mission to train future women scientist and teachers. The main objective of the department is to equip the students with requisite knowledge and skills to meet the challenges of the new world order. Department of Basic and Applied Sciences was created to promote and cater the needs of girl’s student in Science and Technology domain in rural Haryana to pursue research and academic courses in science domains across several disciplines viz. Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Environmental Sciences. The department aims to train the students for future scientist and teachers, who shall facilitate new innovation in the field of science and technology for better society. The students are provided ample opportunities for getting trained in various aspects of sciences through practical and project work, guest lecturers from eminent persons from industry and academia.
The main aim of the department is to offer quality and affordable education with a view to build postgraduates and doctoral candidates with high ethics and skilled qualities. The department offers two years M.Sc. courses in various fields viz. Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Moreover, department also offers Ph.D. in Mathematics and Physics. All academic programmes are designed and administered, with adequate depth and width within the extended views of Science and Technology. The department has well equipped computing, physics and chemistry labs based upon the latest technologies pertaining to different sectors. These facilities are also made accessible to other departments of the University and department also shares various central facilities of University.
The department also imparts Environmental Sciences education to students across university as it is mandated for achieving sustainable development goals in 21st century. The theme of this curriculum is to promote the study and understanding of natural and anthropogenic processes in our natural environments and inculcate the students about environmental issues. The department regularly organizes environmental awareness, solid waste management and resource conservation campaigns at department and university level.
We are fully committed for excellence in basic and applied science education. In a changing era of science and technology general post graduates are expected to be fully knowledgeable, trained and skilled. Therefore, department intends to enlighten students to be in right endeavor by developing their innovative ideas in the field of scientific research with human values which led them to be successful and employable postgraduates in the dynamic environment. The Department is equipped with decent infrastructure, attest laboratories and digital technology facilitating effective teaching learning ambience.
